Weekly Announcement: April 6-9
Happy Friday Parents and Students,
Yay! Testing is almost over for the week! Students had the opportunity to “show what they know” and impress even themselves with their ability! I was thinking positive thoughts for them the whole time in addition to crossing my fingers and toes. I have seen a noticeable improvement in student work ethic over the past month. I’ve been raising the bar and students have been rising with it! Way to work hard students and get your work turned in on time! I’m proud of you!
ASL 1: This week we worked on Lesson 26 and Vocabulary Practice Quiz 26. Students who did not sign the lesson by today will complete it on Monday, since this was a short week with testing. Here are some of the sample sentences that students needed to sign this week:
01. YOU PREFER CLOTHES BRIGHT, DARK, WHICH?
02. FOR YOU SLEEP MUST DARK? (Does it have to be dark for you to sleep?)
03. FLOWER GROW-GROW-[garden] DOG DIG, WHY?
04. TOPIC YOU INTERESTED WHAT?
05. FLOWER YOU LIKE WHAT-KIND?
ASL 2: Students continue to work at their own pace and I am encouraging them not to lose their momentum. This time of year Spring Fever sets in. Do you still get Spring Fever?
Spanish 2: This week we began a new unit and chapter. The objectives for this chapter are to be able to: 1) Describe childhood experiences, 2) Express personal reactions and 3) Discuss family relationships. Grammar concepts covered in this chapter include the long form of possessive adjectives and pronouns, a review of reflexive pronouns and verbs and learning to conjugate verbs in the imperfect. We use the imperfect in Spanish to speak about background events in a story, talk about something you used to do as a matter of habit, to speak about how old someone was and to say what time it was. Students have been building vocabulary for our new chapter by creating their own quizlets and practicing the different sections of quizlet including the Flashcards, Learn, Spell and Live!
Spanish 1: This week we began a new unit and chapter. The objectives for this chapter are to be able to 1) Describe classes and classroom objects, 2) Say how often you do something and 3) Discuss obligations. Some of the grammar concepts included in this chapter include conjugating more verbs ending in -ar, expressing frequency with adverbs and expressing obligations with “hay que and tener que.” Students have been building vocabulary for our new chapter by creating their own quizlets and practicing the different sections of quizlet including the Flashcards, Learn, Spell and Live!
German 2 and Japanese 2: Students are continuing to study the minimum 30 mins. per day of Rosetta Stone. Eight students in class did over 100% of their time last week. I would like to see that happen with all 16 students, so I can do a happy dance! I gave them a reminder this week to not lose their momentum. Parents please check Infinite Campus each Tuesday to help and encourage them to meet their goal. I appreciate all that you do!
Have a great weekend everyone. Take some time to smell the roses and have fun with your family! I plan to swim this weekend and get out on the water with my kayak!
