Week 3: August 8-11
Hello Families,
I hope you are all well and that your children are all enjoying their classes here at San Tan.
ASL 1: This week in ASL 1 students completed receptive fingerspelling on the ASL University website and also studied lesson 2. They should sign the lesson 2 practice sentences by tomorrow in order to receive full credit. Next week we will practice fingerspelling with a partner with the topic of words related to going to the movies. We will also begin lesson 3 in ASL University. I’m very proud of the students as they have already learned about 40-50 new signs!
ASL 2: This week in ASL 2 students signed country sentences 6-10 with points of interest. These sentences were complex sentences that they wrote using ASL structure. Students have commented this week on how these assignments are honing their fingerspelling. We also completed lesson 32 in ASL University. Next week we will have 5 new country sentences and complete lesson 33.
Spanish 1: This week in Spanish 1 students officially enrolled in the Quizlet Classroom and added their study set for the preliminary chapter. Enrollment in this classroom allows them to use the Learn feature of Quizlet which tells them how many terms they have mastered so far. We also completed a Checkpoint in Quizlet and as a whole the classes scored about 83%. Students also completed a map of Spanish Speaking countries and completed 1-2 Duolingo assignments. Next week we will be learning how to introduce ourselves in Spanish, learn the days of the week in Spanish and how to count up to twenty in Spanish.
