Week 24: January 31-February 4
Hello Families!
ASL 2: This week in ASL 2 students created and sentences with points of interest for the countries of Italy, Austria, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, and Hungary and then signed them. We are also working on Lesson 50 which is due tomorrow. Students in ASL 2 have now learned approximately 1000 signs! Wow, what a feat! I’m so proud of all of these young adults! Next week we will learn more country signs and study Lesson 51.
ASL 1: This week in ASL 1 students completed more receptive fingerspelling and worked on Lesson 20. Those students who have completed all of their lessons to date should have a signing vocabulary or about 400 words! Wow! Great job students! Next week we will work on Lesson 21.
Spanish 2: This week in Spanish 2 students made meat tamales and vegetarian tamales that were absolutely delicious! They also finished their posters on Las Posadas, Los Tres Reyes Magos or El Día de Candelaria. Their posters had a minimum of six bullet points to tell about the holidays and had images too. These posters are displayed in the electives hallway and look great! The students enjoyed being able to show what they know this way. Students also completed a Duolingo assignment, completed a quiz on Día de Candelaria and Candlemas and did some work on the saber and conocer verb which both mean to know. Next week we will be working on making comparisons using comparative adjectives, do some whiteboarding practice and wrap up the current chapter.

This verb is used to show possession, talk about age, use idiomatic expressions and to talk about obligations. We will be working on a packet next week to better our understanding on it’s many uses.
Have a great weekend. Stay healthy and happy!
