Week 13: November 1-5
Hello Families,
This week has been an interesting week with challenges for students to excel. This was the first week that Sweep has been implemented in order to help students make it to class on time. Good hustle students! Your time in the classroom is positively correlated with your success!
ASL 1: Students have completed Lesson 11 this week and practiced receptive fingerspelling on ASL University. In addition to this, they have had fingerspelling practice based on the theme of words associated with college and trade school. They have also watched the Top Stories in ASL a couple of times this week. Next week we will work on Lesson 12 and fingerspell words that are associated with the them of patriotism and service.
ASL 2: Students have completed State sentences 41-45 and Lesson 41 this week. They have also watched the Top News Stories in ASL several times. Next week they will work on Lesson 42 and sign sentences for the last five states. The students have proposed that we can sign sentences for countries and points of interest next. But, I would also like to include some sentences or signing a story about Thanksgiving.
Spanish 1: Students have completed two Duolingo assignments this week, studied their Unidad 1 Etapa 2 Quizlet several times and have completed a listening activity. For Dia de los Muertos, we watched the movie Coco in Spanish and did some reading and looking for cognates in a packet for Coco. Next week we will be learning definite and indefinite articles and work on using adjectives to describe gender.
Spanish 2: Students have completed two Duolingo assignments this week and studied their Unidad 3 Etapa 1 Quizlet several times. They also completed a listening activity, reviewed using estar with adjectives in more complex sentences and watched Coco for Dia De los Muertos. Next week we will be reviewing using gustar with ininitives and nouns, using the verb venir to say where we are coming from and using acabar de to express that we just did something.
Have a great weekend families!
