Hello Everyone,

Crunch time is here! No, I don’t mean popcorn or chips. It is time for the Electives Showcase! Students have been working so hard on this and I can’t wait for them to show you what they know! All Advanced Culinary students should be here tomorrow, Saturday, October 29th by no later than 2:30 p.m. All salsa dancers and dancing duos for Dos Oruguitas should arrive no later than 3:00 p.m. And all other Spanish 1 & 2 students and ASL 1 & 2 students should arrive at school by 3:30. All of my students should make sure to sign in and sign out with me to receive credit for the event. Dress rehearsal starts promptly at 4 p.m. in the Green Gym. Spanish 2: This week students have been practicing Dos Oruguitas for the showcase, in addition to selected students completing salsa dance practice for Vivir la Vida. Students have also finished painting their Sugar Skulls for the Día de los Muertos photo booth. Their work has been amazing and each Sugar Skull is uniquely different. Next week we will be celebrating Día de los Muertos.

Spanish 1: This week in class students have been finishing their Alebrijes to be displayed on the Photo Booth as well. They have created some imaginative creatures! They have also been practicing the two songs that they will be singing in the Electives Showcase! The names of the two songs are ¿De Dónde Es? and ¿Cómo Eres Tú? Both songs and lyrics have been added to their Google Classroom, so they can continue to practice at home before tomorrow´s performance. Select students from the 6th Hour class will be dancing a salsa dance during the Showcase too. Next week we will celebrate Día de los Muertos.

ASL 1: This week ASL 1 practiced signing Remember Me for the Electives Showcase.  One of our ASL 1 students, Rafael Ocanda will be leading us on the song. This amazing young man agreed to step up to the plate to do this and I am so proud of him! Students also signed Lesson 11. Next week students will work on Lesson 12.

ASL 2: This week ASL 2 students practiced signing Remember Me for the Showcase. They also completed Country Sentences 41-45. I encourage students to challenge themselves as much as possible each week to add new words to their sentences in addition to learning the new country signs. Students also completed lesson 41 this week. Next week we will be working on new country sentences and lesson 42.

I’m looking forward to seeing you all at the Electives Showcase! Thank you for your commitment to helping your children to be excellent in all that they do and thank you for helping them to be reliable and dependable (not to mention being their personal chauffeurs)!

If you would like to bring a photo of a departed loved one to hold up next to you at the photo booth, please feel free to honor them in that way. See you tomorrow!
