Week 9: September 19-23

In ASL I, ASL II, Spanish I, Spanish II

Hello Families,

I hope that you are all well and that you have something fun planned over the fall break. I plan to go up north for a couple of days with my family to celebrate my birthday. I am also looking forward to September 28th, which is the due date of my newest grandchild! Yay!

Spanish 2: This week in class we finished up our packet on stem changing verbs. Students are becoming more proficient in this challenging skill as the year goes on. Students also completed practice in Duolingo and practiced the Dos Oruguitas song for the Electives Showcase. The lyrics and YouTube video for the song has been posted to their Google Classroom so they can be practicing over the break. When they return from the break, they will be practicing more Salsa dancing, learn a new song, and will review irregular verbs. Just as a reminder, I’m asking each Spanish 2 student to bring in five dollars to cover the cost of a ceramic skull, paints and brushes for the photo booth that we are creating for the Electives showcase.

Spanish 1: This week in class students completed Duolingo practice, took a Quizizz on the ser verb and it’s uses and also practiced their songs for the Electives Showcase. After break students will be learning another song for the Showcase and many students will be practicing the Salsa dance as well. Students will also be creating a slideshow about themselves that they will need to present in Spanish using phrases that they have already learned in class.

ASL 1: This week in class students completed Lesson 8 and also completed receptive fingerspelling practice. Upon their return from break they will complete a review of Lessons 1-8, begin Lesson 9 and learn how to sign the song Remember Me for the Electives Showcase.

ASL 2: This week in class students completed Lesson 38. Upon their return from break they will review Lessons 30-38 and learn how to sign the song Remember Me for the Electives Showcase.

Just a reminder that the Electives Showcase is a required activity for all students. It will take place on the evening of October 29th and will be an incredible opportunity for your child to “show what they know!”

Have a great break!
