Week 34: April 25-29

In ASL I, ASL II, Spanish I, Spanish II

Hello Families,

Today is a half day and an excellent day for some professional development and for our students who are getting ready for AP Exams or MAP testing to study.

ASL2: This week in ASL 2 students are working on Country Sentences for the countries of Eswatini, Ethiopia, Fiji, Gabon and Gambia. They are also working on Lesson 60, our last lesson in ASL University. Next week they will complete some review of practice sentences and begin work on signing their favorite songs.

ASL 1: This week in ASL 1 students completed receptive fingerspelling practice and are working on Lesson 30. Lesson 30 is the final lesson that they will complete in ASL University this year. Next week students will complete some review of practice sentences and will begin work on signing their favorite songs.

Spanish 2: This week Spanish 2 classes created a Quizlet for the vocabulary words in the new chapter of study. They also created a word wall, studied their new words in context and within a dialog with different roles. They will also be answering comprehension questions for their reading. My 5th hour class also went to the Recker Campus to work with our second grade buddies on telling time and also reading in Spanish and English. I am very proud of the students that chose to help me on this Donor’s Choose Project. They represented our school well and really connected with the younger students. We have been invited back next year to do these activities on a quarterly basis. At the end of this week and next week we will be making piñatas to celebrate Cinco de Mayo in conjunction with the culinary classes. We will also have a piñata making contest. Students may be searching for materials at home to make their piñatas with such as oatmeal containers, paper towel and toilet paper tubes, cereal boxes etc. I look forward to seeing their finished projects!
