Week 34: April 22-26

In ASL I, ASL II, Spanish I, Spanish II

Hello Families. I hope all is well with you today and that your week is going smoothly.

Spanish 1 & 2: This week has been a fun week in class with working on their piñatas! The students love this hands on project and it has been a great opportunity for them to create something that they can be proud of! They have also had to negotiate their way through planning and dividing the work evenly among their group, so they are learning important workplace skills. Our piñata contest will take place next week along with our celebration of Cinco de Mayo (more to come on this soon). Much of our cardboard was upcycled from recycle containers (the less glamorous part of a teacher’s job, lol). But it’s all in good fun and was certainly an appropriate project to do during the week that included Earth Day. Thank you to all of the parents who donated supplies they had on hand at home. And thanks to those who were able to take their teens to the store to get ready for their project. It is much appreciated. Some of our supplies were also purchased using money from our Electives Showcase earlier this year, so thanks to all who supported that. We couldn’t do it without you parents!

ASL 1: This week in class students completed a review of Lesson 1-26, read chapter 4 of Train Go, Sorry and completed lesson 27. Next week students will complete Lesson 28 and read chapter 5 of Train Go, Sorry.

ASL 2: This week in class students completed Lesson 58 in ASL University and Country Sentences 130-135. Next week they will complete Lesson 59, more country sentences and they will read another chapter of Train Go, Sorry. The fun country fact(s) this week is that in Norway the sun doesn’t set in the summer and it is the happiest country on earth!

Have a great rest of the week!
