Week 32: April 11-14

In ASL I, ASL II, Spanish I, Spanish II

Hello Families,

Hope you all had a great weekend! Just a reminder that there is no school on April 15th, nor on April 18th as we will be on April Break.

ASL 2: This week students are completing and signing country sentences for Denmark, Djibouti, Dominican Republic, Egypt and Eritrea.  They are also working on Lesson 58. Next week they will do five more country sentences and work on Lesson 59.

ASL 1: This week students have already completed some receptive fingerspelling practice and will work on Lesson 28 and learn some Easter vocabulary. Next week they will sign their own sentences about what they did over April Break and work on Lesson 29.

Spanish 2: This week students are filming their sentences for their project on the Present Progressive Tense. The Present Progressive tense in Spanish is used to tell what someone is doing right now. Students have scripted their sentences and will be acting them out in different locations at school and maybe at home too. They have to use all of the subject pronouns (twelve in total) and must conjugate correctly. This project is due by Wednesday at the end of class. We will watch their videos on Wednesday. Next week we will be working on the preterite tense and we will be reading children’s books in Spanish and reviewing time in the 5th hour class to prepare for our field trip.

Spanish 1: This week in Spanish 1 we are learning how to express frequency with adverbs. We use adverbs or adverbial phrases in Spanish to tell how often we do something. We will also learn about the phrases tener que and hay que to express obligation and will be completing some whiteboarding practice on present tense -AR verbs. Next week we will learn how to conjugate -ER and -IR verbs in the present tense.

Have a great four day weekend and a lovely April Break!

Respectfully,

Ms. Hirepan
