Week 3: August 9-13

In ASL I, ASL II, Spanish I, Spanish II

Happy Friday the 13th everyone. Does anyone plan to watch scary movies tonight? LOL!

ASL 1: In ASL 1 this week we continued to practice Fingerspelling and students should have mastered the Lesson 1 Vocabulary and been able to sign the Practice Sentences. Some students will be signing this on Monday, as this is a large class and it takes a while to watch all of them sign individually. Parents, if  you don’t see a grade in Infinite Campus for Lesson 1 for your child, please ask them to sign the practice sheets for you to help them be ready to sign it on Monday. Next week we will begin Lesson 2 and students will be expected to sign the Practice Sentences by Thursday or Friday at the latest.

ASL 2: In ASL 2 this week students completed a Rainy Day Sentence assignment where they had to write down 10 sentences of things they like to do on a rainy day. Next they had to look up any words they did not know how to sign. Then, they had to sign the sentences to different partners. Students also learned to sign the vocabulary for Lesson 31 and had to apply themselves in learning to sign the accompanying practice sentences. All students should have signed the practice sentences for me by the end of class and should have a grade in the gradebook for this by later today. If they have not yet done so, they are not meeting the expectation and need some encouragement from parents. Parents, if you see a missing assignment in the gradebook for this assignment, please encourage your child to sign the practice sheets for you at home, to help them build their confidence.

Spanish 1: This week in Spanish 1 students learned about Spanish speaking countries and added a map ot them to their Interactive Notebook. After adding the map, students were expected to find a point of interest for each of the countries and add that to their notebooks as well. Students also completed a couple of Duolingo assignments, practiced their chapter vocabulary on Quizlet, and played Quizlet Live today. Next week we will learn how to say where we are from in Spanish, learn common names of people in Spanish and learn numbers 1-10, the days of the week in Spanish and useful phrases for the classroom. They will have a quiz at the end of the week on the preliminary chapter that we have been studying.

Spanish 2: This week in Spanish 2 took a practice Quizizz on telling time with menos. Students also learned how to use Interrogative Spanish Words in sentences and practiced this concept doing some exercises from the text with their partners. They also played Taco Tuesday (a competetive game to help them with their vocabulary) and played Quizlet Live. Next week we will finish our Quizizz on Spanish Interrogative words, practice using qué and cuál in sentences, ask our partners about their schedules in Spanish and complete a chapter review. We will take a quiz at the end of the week over the concepts learned in the chapter.

Have a great weekend parents and thanks so much for sharing your wonderful children with me!
