Week 22: January 17-20

 In ASL I, ASL II, Spanish I, Spanish II

Hello Families. I hope everyone had some nice time together over the three day break. The rainy days were very conducive to cuddling up in a warm blanket with a good book to read.

Spanish 2: This week in class we have been working our way through a packet from our current chapter which contains vocabulary, grammar (irregular preterit verbs), reading (lectura) and una crucigrama (a crossword or words related to art and food.We should finish our packet by no later than Monday. Students also completed an activity from the textbook called “A pasarlo bien.” Students will have a vocabulary quiz on Friday with the words in the context of sentences. Next week students will complete 2-4 more activities from the book, learn more about the latino art of Chicago, complete some whiteboarding and review for the next exam.

Spanish 1: This week in class students learned how to conjugate verbs ending in -er and -ir. They also completed a Quizziz on conjugating verbs ending in -ar. Tomorrow students will be working on a Quizziz assignment to practice conjugating -er and -ir verbs. On Friday they will be taking a vocabulary quiz with the words in the context of sentences. Next week we will learn how to tell time in Spanish and we will learn the verb ir, which is an irregular verb which means to go.

ASL 1: This week in ASL 1 students reviewed lessons 1-17 practice sheets for bell work in addition to stories 1-15. They also learned the new vocabulary for lesson 18 which is due on Friday. Next week students will complete a short written assignment on the history of ASL and will complete lesson 19.

ASL 2: This week in class students completed country sentences for the countries of Indonesia, Iran, Iraq, Ireland and Israel. Did you know that the sign for Ireland is nearly the same as potato, with a flourish of the dominant hand leading? Students also learned the vocabulary for lesson 48 which is due Friday. Next week students will complete a short written assignment on the history of ASL, more country sentences and lesson 49.
