Week 2: August 1-5
Hello Families,
I hope this post finds you all well. It has been an exciting week of instruction and of getting to know students better. It is always a challenge at the beginning of the year to memorize the names of each students but I will rise to the challenge.
Spanish 2: This week in Spanish 2 students have created a Quizlet for the new chapter and have access to study the words and play vocabulary games on Quizlet 24/7. They have also created a word wall in class with the words in Spanish, English and a picture representation. Students have set up their notebooks with a table of contents and numbered pages to help them stay organized as we take notes. Next week we will learn how to use the estar (to be) verb with location and we will learn how to use Interrogative words in Spanish. We will also complete Duolingo assignments on Tuesday and Thursday and study our Quizlet on Monday and Wednesday. And of course we will play Quizlet Live on Friday!

They have also created a word wall in class with the words in Spanish, English and a picture representation. Students sang the Spanish Alphabet song several times this week and have set up their notebooks with a table of contents and numbered pages to help them stay organized as we take notes. Next week we will learn greetings and introductions, locate and learn about Spanish speaking countries and learn to say where we are from in Spanish. We will also complete Duolingo assignments on Tuesday and Thursday and study our Quizlet on Monday and Wednesday. And of course we will play Quizlet Live on Friday!
ASL 1: This week in ASL 1 students continued practice on Fingerspelling and receptive reading of fingerspelling. They completed an exercise online for this and also a partner activity where they had to fingerspell ten words related to school and their partners had to guess the word, then switch roles. We also studied all of the vocabulary words (signs) for lesson 1 and the practice sentences as well. Students are responsible for signing their practice sentences to me in person for 75 pts. this week. Next week we will work on Lesson 2 in ASL University.
ASL 2: This week in class students wrote the first five country sentences with points of interest and signed them. This challenged them to hone their fingerspelling and to learn the signs of new countries and points of interest. They also studied lesson 31 in ASL University and will be signing the practice sentences by no later than today. Some earned extra credit by signing early. Next week we will have five more country sentences and study lesson 32.
Have a great weekend!
