Week 18: December 4-8

Hello Families and happy December. We are in the home stretch before finals and December break and students are preparing for their finals in all classes. Spanish students should be studying all of the week 1-18 materials posted in the Google Classroom as well as studying their Quizlets in order to prepare for the final. ASL 1 students should be studying lessons 1-13 and ASL 2 students should be studying lessons 31-45 as these are the lessons that will be on their finals. 

ASL 1: This week in class students have been reviewing Lessons 1-12 and will be signing Lesson 13 by the end of the week. Next week on Monday and Tuesday students will be taking the semester final. For the semester final, they will randomly draw five practice cards and will narrow it down to two cards that they will be signing. The final will be worth 150 points which is 10 percent of the total points currently in the gradebook. Each word they miss will be five points off.

ASL 2: This week in class students have been reviewing Lessons 31-44. They are also preparing country sentences which will be signed on Thursday and Lesson 45 which will be signed on Friday. Next week on Monday and Tuesday students will be taking the semester final. For the semester final, they will randomly draw five practice cards and will narrow it down to two cards that they will be signing. The final will be worth 180 points which is 10 percent of the total points currently in the gradebook. Each word they miss will be five points off.

Spanish 1: This week in class students have been working on grammar and listening skills in albert.io. Albert.io is a program which supports learning by doing and gives students immediate feedback on the questions that they have missed. It has a reading, writing, listening and speaking component and is directly tied to the Arizona State Standards for World languages. We are using this program to prepare for the final and reinforce any skills that the students need practice on. Students will also need to review the vocabulary from the Etapa Preliminar, Unidad 1 Etapa 1, and Unidad 1 Etapa 2. There are Quizlets in the Quizlet classroom for each of these and I highly recommend practice on these outside of classroom time as well as in class. They should also be studying all of the materials in the Google Classroom for weeks 1-18 to prepare for the final. Their final will be worth 120 points which is approximately 10 percent of the points in the gradebook.
