Week 15: November 14-18
Good afternoon families.
Spanish 2: This week in class students studied their Quizlets for the new chapter each day for bell work. Yesterday the 1st hour class scored 92% on their Quizlet Checkpoint and the 3rd hour class scored 96% on theirs. Quizlet Checkpoint chooses 12 random words from their vocabulary list and then challenges students to show their knowledge of the meaning of the words through a multiple choice exercise. Way to go Spanish 2 students. Keep raising that bar by studying your Quizlets each day. I’m proud of you all! This week we also reviewed and took more notes on the preterit tense and completed two readings, both with the vocabulary in context. Next week we will work with irregular verbs in the preterit and complete a Thanksgiving activity in Spanish.
ASL 1: This week in ASL 1 students completed a review of Lessons 1-13 using Practice Sheet sentences of 5 each. They also completed Lesson 14. Next week we will be taking a break from the usual lessons and will learn Thanksgiving vocabulary to create and sign our own sentences.
Spanish 1: This week in class students created a Quizlet for their new chapter. They also created a Word Wall and have been studying their Quizlets for bell work each day. The classes completed a Quizlet Checkpoint to measure their progress and the 5th hour class had a score of 74% and the 6th hour class followed closely with a 71%. Our goal next week is to raise this up to scores in the eighties. This week we also took notes on the tener verb (to have) and on the tener + que + infinitive formula which helps us to express obligations. Next week we will be completing a Thanksgiving activity in Spanish and will work on vocabulary in context.
ASL 2: This week in ASL 2 students wrote country sentences with points of interest and a minimum of three additional new signs. Their sentences were much more complex this week and they really have to think about syntax when writing them. I’m very proud of how far they have come. The top choice for travel destination this week by students was a tie between Finland and France. Most students said that if they travel to Finland they would like to see the Aurora Borealis and if they travel to France the Eiffel Tower. Students also signed lesson 44 this week. Next week we will take a break from our usual lessons and complete a Thanksgiving signing activity.
Have a great weekend everyone!
