Hello Everyone,

I’m so excited about the upcoming Electives Showcase on Saturday October 29th from 5 p.m. to 8p.m. The students have been working hard on their songs, dances and artwork for the showcase and can’t wait to show you what they know! Students will need to arrive at school at 3:30 pm that day as we will be doing a dress rehearsal starting at 4 p.m. in the gymnasium. Just as a reminder, this is a required day for ASL and Spanish students and will be a graded activity. Please see the flyer and the formstack below for more information and tickets!

Spanish 2: This week in class the 1st Hr. students have been practicing Salsa Dancing with our marvelous volunteer dance instructor Mrs. McCollum. Students in both classes have been working diligently on their Sugar Skull Plans and have been learning about the history of Día de los Muertos. Next week students will be painting their ceramic sugar skulls and will finish preparations for the Electives Showcase.

ASL 2: This week in ASL 2 students practiced signing the song Remember Me that will be presented at the Electives Showcase. They also completed Country Sentences 36-40 and Lesson 40. Next week they will complete Country Sentences 41-45, Lesson 41 and practice their song for the Showcase.

Spanish 1: This week in class students reviewed definite and indefinite articles. They have also been learning about the history of Alebrijes and have created a rough draft of an original Alebrije. By Monday they should have completed their final drafts of their Alebrijes. Students need to bring in empty cereal boxes for the purpose of backing their Alebrijes with cardboard to make them more durable. We have many students that have enjoyed this artistic expression of their imaginations and are looking forward to sharing their work with you at the Electives Showcase!
