Week 1: July 26-29
Hello Families!
This has been an exciting week for teachers and students. I have enjoyed meeting your kids and look forward to getting to know them even better this school year.
ASL 1: This week in ASL 1 students reviewed the syllabus and took a syllabus quiz. Parents, if they have not yet given you their syllabus to sign, please ask them for it, as it was the first assignment due in the gradebook. We practiced fingerspelling today in class and students began to create slides with images for our All About Me assignment in the Google Classroom. Next week we will continue to work on Fingerspelling, both signing and receptive.
ASL 2: This week in ASL 2 students reviewed the syllabus and took a syllabus quiz. All students in this class have enrolled in their Google Classroom. Well done students! Some still need to return their signed syllabus however, so if you have not seen your child’s syllabus, please ask them to see it and sign it. Thanks. We also began a bag assignment in which students had to decorate and put nine things in their bags that describe them, inspire them and are important to them. We will begin to share these today in class. Next week we will begin lesson 31 in ASL University.
Spanish 1: This week in Spanish 1 students completed some getting to know you activities and reviewed classroom rules and procedures. We also reviewed the syllabus, and are taking a syllabus quiz today. Parents, please sign your student’s syllabus today if you have not had the chance to do so yet, as was due on Wednesday and is the first grade in the gradebook. Students have also signed in to their Google Classroom and should also have enrolled in our Duolingo Classroom. Next week we will be learning the preliminary chapter vocabulary and will create a Word Wall in class.
Spanish 2: This week in Spanish 2 students completed a getting to know you activity and introduced themselves to each other. We reviewed the syllabus on Tuesday and took a syllabus quiz today. Some students still need to have their syllabus signed by their parent, so if your child has not given you theirs please ask to see it, as it was due on Wednesday. Students have already logged into their Google Classroom and should also have enrolled in our their Duolingo Classroom. We have also started learning about the Huichol People who are descendants of the Aztecs and live in Mexico. The Huichol people are amazing artisans and next week we will be creating an Ojo de Dios. We could use some donations of yarn if you have some laying around that you would like to donate to our classroom. Thanks!
Have a great rest of the week and weekend! Thank you for trusting me to educate your most precious asset! It is an honor!
