Week 23: January-27

In ASL I, ASL II, Spanish I, Spanish II

Hello Families,

I hope this post finds you all well. It has been a busy and productive week and I appreciate all of the hard work that students have been putting in.

Spanish 2: This week in class students have been completing a packet together with me in class. Within the packet students had to use irregular preterite verbs and stem changing verbs. They also had to read several “lectura” articles that concern latino art and food and answer comprehension questions. They also completed a vocabulary quiz and read about latino art in Chicago. Tomorrow students will take a test over the current chapter. Next week students will begin a new chapter in the text. The new chapter has vocabulary words that are centered around news and asking for and giving information. Students will create a new word wall, discover words in context and complete a dialogue using the new words.

Spanish 1: This week in Spanish 1 students took notes on using the verb ir, which means to go, and also learned how to say where they, or other people were going. ie. El va a la clase de matemáticas (He is going to math class). They took a Quizziz on this assignment and did well. I am very proud of them! Students also took notes on telling time this week and are beginning to use the phrases involved in telling time. Next week we will continue to work on telling time in Spanish, learn how to describe location with the verb estar and learn how to ask questions using interrogative words.

ASL 1: This week in ASL 1 students completed review of lessons 1-18, review of stories 1-15, an article on the history of ASL  and lesson 19. Next week students will work on lesson 20. By the end of lesson 20 students should have an approximate sign vocabulary of 200 words. Wow! Way to go students!

ASL 2: This week in ASL 2 students completed country sentences, an article on the history of ASL and lesson 49 which had more than the usual number of practice sentences. Lesson 49 contained words about banking and investing. Next week students will complete lesson 50. By the end of lesson 50 students should have an approximate sign vocabulary of 1000 plus words! Amazing! I am so proud of these students! They have been diligent in their studies!

Have a great day everyone! Thank you for your continued support in your child´s learning endeavors!
