Week 14: November 7-10

In ASL I, ASL II, Spanish I, Spanish II

Hello Families! Tomorrow is Veteran’s Day and I would like to say thank you to all veterans for your service and sacrifice. You are truly appreciated!

Spanish 2: This week in class students created a Quizlet for their new chapter and started a Word Wall for those words as well. They also worked with me to complete a packet on Common Irregular verbs. Next week we will venture back into the past tense with regular verbs, verbs ending in -car, -gar, and -zar, as well as some stem changing verbs and irregular verbs. Part of this new chapter’s goals include learning to comment on airplane travel and discuss leisure time in the past. We will work on vocabulary in context and dialogue in these areas as well.

ASL 1: This week in class students reviewed lessons 1-12 and signed lesson 13. Next week students will complete more review, work on lesson 14 and they will learn some vocabulary related to Thanksgiving.

Spanish 1: This week in Spanish 1 students completed a listening activity and whiteboard practice on phrases talking about other’s physical and personality traits, likes and dislikes and what other people wear. They also created a slideshow about a famous or fictional character with these same ideas written in Spanish. They also learned about Tejano music and took an Exam over the current chapter.  I am very proud of these students for how far they have come since we started school!  Next week students will share their slideshows with one another and create a Quizlet for their new chapter and a Word Wall as well.

ASL 2: This week in ASL 2 students wrote new country sentences. In addition to learning to sign the new countries each week, I challenge each student to tell me the new words that they added and to make their sentences more complex. Students also completed Lesson 43 this week. Next week students will review chapters 31-43, complete new country sentences and begin Lesson 44.

A reminder to students who were unable to attend the Electives Showcase that there is a make-up assignment available in the Google Classroom that is due on Monday, November 14th.

Have a great three day weekend everyone!
