Week 13: October 31-November 4

In ASL I, ASL II, Spanish I, Spanish II

Hello Everyone! I just wanted to express my sincerest gratitude to students for all of their hard work this past weekend on the Electives Showcase and also to the parents and other family members and friends that attended this event. We had an amazing turnout and everyone seemed to really have a good time! Special thanks to Mr. Ramos, Miss Tomasek, Mrs. McQuaid and Mrs. McCollum for helping to make this event a huge success. Over 110 people attended and had the opportunity to see Spanish, ASL, Show Choir  and Dance perform. In addition to this there were excellent hors d’ oeuvres to sample that were prepared and served by Culinary students and artwork to peruse that art students created. The Día de los Muertos photo booth held the sugar skull and alebrije creations of Spanish students and offered the chance to become familiar with this time honored tradition dating back to the Aztec people. Thank you to all who participated for your time commitment and your commitment to excellence in all that you do!

There is a make-up assignment in Google Classroom for students who were unable to attend the Showcase due to other obligations. The assignment is due November 14th.

Spanish 2: This week in class students learned more about Día de los Muertos by reading an article and listing facts about this celebration. Students also played Kahoot to test their knowledge on this and on alebrijes. They completed Duolingo too and had time to begin work on their make-up assignment if needed. Next week they will begin a new chapter in the text, create a Quizlet, Word Wall and work on speaking in the past tense.

ASL 1: This week students completed some review on lessons 1-11 and also worked on mastering lesson 12. Next week they will complete more review and work on Lesson 13.

Spanish 1: This week in class students learned more about the history of alebrijes by reading an article together and listing facts about them. They also played Kahoot to test their knowledge about alebrijes and Día de los Muertos. Duolingo was also assigned this week and students were given time to work on their make-up assignment for the Showcase if they missed it. Next students will learn how to conjugate and use the tener verb in sentences and they will complete some whiteboard practice on phrases that describe others appearances and personality characteristics.

ASL 2: This week in class students completed country sentences 41-45 and lesson 42. Next week students will review lessons 31-41, complete new country sentences and work on lesson 43. They were also given time to work on their make-up assignment for the showcase if needed.

Have a great rest of the week!
