Week 11: October 18-22

In ASL I, ASL II, Spanish I, Spanish II

Hello Families,

I hope you all had a fabulous week and got a chance to see the Hunter’s moon! We had many students up in Payson at Tonto Camp, so they probably had a marvelous view of it, in addition to the Milky Way.

ASL 1: This week in ASL 1 students studied Lesson 9 and should have signed it by the end of class today. They also did a quick review of lessons 1-8 and had fingerspelling practice with the theme of Autumn. Next week we will begin Lesson 10 and when finished have a sign language vocabulary of about 200 words. I am so proud of the students in this class for their hard work and dedication. They are signing with automaticity now and are gaining more and more confidence.

ASL 2: This week in ASL 2 students watched 3 ASL Top Stories being signed. They also completed State Sentences 31-35 and Lesson 39. Next week they will be working on more state sentences and will complete Lesson 40. By the end of Lesson 40 they should have a working sign vocabulary of approximately 800 words! Way to go ASL students!

Spanish 1: This week was a very productive week with Duolingo, reading in Spanish, a chapter review and a test to wrap up the current chapter. Next week students will create a Quizlet for the new chapter, be introduced to the objectives, create a new word wall and work with vocabulary in context and dialogue. The words and phrases that they will learn will help them to describe others with regard to features, appearance, and personality. They will also learn how to describe clothing and learn their colors in Spanish.

Spanish 2: This week students completed 2 Duolingo assignments, 2 whiteboard reviews and a test to wrap up the current chapter. Next week students will create a Quizlet for the new chapter, be introduced to the new objectives, create a new word wall and work with vocabulary in context. The words and phrases that they learn will have to do with extending invitations, talking on the phone, expressing feelings and saying what just happened.

Have a great weekend families!
